Get Magic Lessons

THERE’S SOMETHING I CAN’T WAIT TO TELL YOU. (WELL TWO THINGS ACTUALLY.)

I know, it’s been awhile since I last pirouetted out from behind the curtain.

I’ve been taking a little quiet time, enjoying the view from the wings for a while. After a whirlwind turn across the stage at my Revivify retreat—this is my go-to move. The inevitable sashaying out of the spotlight that comes after any BIG expansion in my life, the inevitable next step in the dance of visibility—the choreography of which I am deeply intimate.

As a quiet creative, retreating backstage is an absolute necessity for me. It’s where I rejuvenate, restore and find the space to distill the meaning from my experiences. It’s in this place of buffered solitude that I extract the learning from the lessons—in other words, where I figure shit out.

Revivify was a retreat I’d been planning for months (and dreaming about and envisioning for years). In a luxury lake house, on the shores of Lake Muskoka, surrounded by all the abundance and beauty that autumn has to offer, I gathered together a circle of six courageous women, women who were open and ready to make massive shifts in their lives and in turn, their creative work and businesses. In the space of five days we created pure magic—fulfilling their intentions to find deeper meaning in their work; clarity on what makes them unique (what makes them brilliant); and the connection they had been deeply craving—it surpassed even my highest hopes— and was even better than my dreams.

Hence my recent radio silence—there’s been a heck of a lot to process!

And while I’m not finished yet, I couldn’t to wait to share the most important lesson that I was reminded of during—and after!—this retreat:

Stop waiting.

If you have an idea, a “thing” that keeps coming to you, that keeps following you around, that keeps dancing in your daydreams, that keeps your heart warm, that occupies a sacred corner of your soul—the way these intimate, heart-filled retreats did for me—stop waiting.

I promise if it’s that persistent it’s because it’s important, it’s part of your path—and because it is so central to your soul—you will NEVER feel ready, it will always feel TOO big. Do it anyway.

As I like to say: Trust. Surrender. Leap.

Or as Goethe said (much more eloquently I might add):

"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back—Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now."

From the moment the retreat began I knew I was exactly where I was meant to be, I knew why this idea had followed me for years, why it would not let me go—I was doing the work of my soul.

The influx of inbox love since the retreat has simply confirmed it, here’s an email that came the other day:

"Revivify aka you and Alex, have changed my life.  Big statement - but so, so, much truth, love, gratitude...all the feels...are behind it. My intention was connection and clarity....Oh lady...did I get that and so much more!!!
I loved you before, but I love you even more now.
Seriously, I want to cry (actually I have tears in my eyes) - you have my heart, my gratitude, my everything!!!  LOL sounds like a sappy love letter....but it's true.
Xoxoxo"

So this is your official reminder (the first thing I couldn’t wait to tell you):

Stop waiting. Trust in your dreams—trust those little whispers, those glimpses of what’s possible, those ideas that won’t let you go—then take a deep breath and leap.

To not waiting!

PS - The second thing I wanted to tell you is this: once you do that “thing” and realize that it’s real and it works and it changes people’s lives and it lights you up in the process—keep doing it. I know I’m going to! That’s why Alex and I already have yet another Revivify retreat in the works for 2018. Interested in joining us for this magical and transformative experience? If so, head on over here and get your name on the list and you’ll be the first to know when the new dates are finalized—not too mention all the other important details—like first dibs on snagging one of the coveted spots!
